older machine
I acquired this machine last night at an auction..I would like to get info on this machine. Singer says it was made in 1953. That is all serial #AL373995..It does sew but having a problem with the bobbin thread and case.Thanks for any info..Elaine

Once you get your 201 sewing properly, you'll have a lovely machine. I have a hand crank/treadle 1936 201, it sews great and is very quiet. The thingy on the front of the machine where the Singer logo is located is a seam guide magnet. I was teaching 2 little girls to sew and they liked the hand crank and the larger seam guide magnet better.
