Default Fun with Bonis Bros

This looks like a fun toy

I wonder what the rest of the machine looks like. Time to do some googling...

wow...seems like there are several of these on CL. Here's another one in a table:

I haven't come across these b4. I guess I could make myself a fur hat...

My, I have never seen machines like those before. Are they just to make fur hats, coats with? Come on, Steve, you would know this or maybe Miriam or Caroline.

I keep seeing one of these on my local CL! I found a video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5nvy3w-AP00

A while back I saw a "how it's made" tv show about fur. According to that show, they usually don't use whole pelts in garments because they don't drape well. Instead, they sew strips of fur together. I don't recall the machine they used in the show but maybe it was like this one. I have a friend who collects vintage furs and I looked inside one of her coats and indeed it was strips. She has an older coat that has whole sections of pelts and it is rather stiff (it's a feline with spots so strips wouldn't have looked right). It is old, though, so it could be that the leather is dried out. Personally I'm opposed to the inhumane treatment of any animal, not just cats, and I believe most of our livestock are not treated humanely so I try to use as little as possible. I do wear leather shoes and I'd like to stop but I have a hard time finding shoes that fit.

I did not even look at the video but have you ever researched how animals are killed just to avoid "spoiling" the fur? I really don't think you would even want to know.
