Help with Identifying this Singer
#23
She looks just like the one I did NOT get from my grandmother-in-law! I used it during every summer visit to make dresses for her, a then-blind former expert seamstress, and though she promised that machine to me, on Grandmary's death her daughter went in the next day and stripped the house and got rid of all that "junk." I'm still crying over that deed, 20 years later! If you want to sell this one, I'll buy her...even though she would have to be shipped across the country. :?

That's a model 66, Red Eye, and it is a beauty!!!! My first vintage machine was a red eye. I wanted one from the very first time I saw one---I think they are so pretty.
The decals on the front look in perfect condition and the decals on the back just look as if they need cleaning. The safest way to clean the decals is to use some sewing machine oil. Just spread it on with your fingers or a soft rag, let it sit for a little while and then gently wipe it off with cotton balls or a soft rag.
I just bought a 66 and all of the decals had turned to silver because someone had cleaned it with a harsh cleaner.
Here is a cute You Tube video by "Treadle Lady" showing a model 66 Red eye in action:
