Default How often

I tried using the search box but can't find the answer.
I have a New Home 920 that's really loud. How often should I oil it? Would that be the reason it's so load?
Thank you.

when you have oiled it in the past, did that quiet it down?

My first thought was a loose driver. But that machine has an unusual hook--kinda like a Viking floating rotary hook. I can't find a picture of the retainer system. Can you post a picture of the bobbin area? If it's like a Viking, you wouldn't put oil on the hook. But it could have something gummed up on the inside.

That makes sense as it sometimes sounds like the bobbin is loose. It also gets jammed every once in a while. I bought it used and I don't have the manual.

I have a Janine New Home JD1818. It is noisy and likes to dance around on the table. Oiling makes it less noisy but it still wants to dance

There is a free pdf manual for the 920 at the following link.

Is that the correct bobbin ? Looks a little bit small.

If you hold your thread tails for the first few stitches it won't jam. It sounds like the machines needs a more thorough cleaning and oiling.
