Cool I am finally a member of the club

I got my Featherweight today. I was in heaven. She was so shiny and pretty. I put the cord on and she purred like a kitten. I put the bobbin in and OH MY.........she would not sew. I pulled 20 inches of thread from behind the bobbin base but could not get it all. I contacted the seller and he told me he would pay to have the machine cleared of the thread. I took her into the shop and the repairman took a look. He said "Wel-l-l-l the thread is not your only problem, you have a piece broken off of the bobbin base. It was that little piece that points up toward the needle. It had broken off right in half. Thank goodness it is an old shop and he had Featherweight parts. He charged me $75 for service and replacement part. She sews like a dream. Oh and BTW, the seller was true to his word and refunded $75 to my Paypal account. The repairman said I got a great deal on my machine. I have a lot of attachments that I will probably never use!

Congratulations on your 'new' FW!! Aren't they just adorable and they do make a nice purring noise when they are sewing. I highly recommend Dave McCallum's book "Featherweight 221 and I". It's very well written with nice, clear illustrations. I use it all the time, not just for my FW, but also for my 301's which are similar to the FW's. Here is the link to Dave's website: http://www.featherweight221.com/fwrx/index.html
