Hi,
Greetings from the frozen gulf south. This weekend I delivered a fully restored 1916 Singer in a 5 drawer cabinet. The machine was purchased by me in 1968 for $5 and was in working order with all attachments and original manual. The machine disappeared during a divorce in the early 70's. Fast forward to Sep.2013 and I found it in my daughter's storage shed. I asked where she found it and she said her mom was going to throw it away and she could have it if she wanted it. I told her the story and she said to take it home with me. Upon loading it in my truck, my granddaughter asked if she could have it. I said I will restore it and it's hers' after I finish. It was missing the center drawer and all attachments and the manual were gone. After 3 mos. off and on I finally finished the old girl and she is happy to be back on the job after a 40 year rest. I made a copy of the 1916 manual and gave her a tutorial on it's operation. Shucks that puts me at only 19 machines in my collection-Bummer!!

What a wonderful reunion. A beautiful machine to pass along. It would be really nice to have a written account of the machine, kept in one of the drawers, with maybe a few pictures of it in use again by DGD. Lovely.

Since contracting SMAD many side-effects have cropped up. One being the stories behind some of these machines. This story is one of the best. I'm hoping one of my daughters or granddaughters will develop a desire for one of my machines.
