Identifying Sewing Machine (Singer 66?)
I've added some photos, I'm thinking this is a 66 from the id number on it but the machine looks like it's been painted over and all of the decals are gone? Can anyone tell me, please if this machine was originally electric or a treadle head? Or if the light and motor may have been added later? Does this machine have two metal spool pins? I know it takes the same bobbins as my singer 99. Also the belt is looking old and dried out, should I get a cogged belt for a spoked hand wheel? Any information is greatly appreciated!

I'm thinking that is a refurbished 66, possibly done in the 1930s or 1940s. When the companies did refurbish and add motors and lights to them, they were remove all indication that they were a singer. Many have survived with the plaque like is on the arm and the original badge on the pillar. I'm thinking that it could have been either a treadle or came with electric motor. It would have been an upgrade. The light does look like it is a Simanco numbered light, but couldn't tell about the motor. Although even if it had been an original Singer motor, it could have been switched out in the last 90 or so years.
I was thinking Miriam had another thread about refurbished machine that were done later, but unable to find it. Here is one of the thread she did about them - refurbished or electrified sewing machines from 1930s and 1940s It seems that the refurbished machines from the 1950s would sometimes include a few Revco items.

I would tend to agree with ourworkbench about being a factory refurbished machine. I would say a bit later than early 40's (late 40's?) due to lamp style (style 4 spotlight), but that could of been changed out through time (but the condition of the wiring makes it looks not so imo).
Would also agree with sewbizgirl that it started off life as a treadle machine.
Interesting machine indeed.
As for the belt, V Belt or cogged....both are fine. One spool pin if I remember correctly
