Improvement to your class 15 shuttle hook
The first sewing machines with this class 15 shuttle hook were produced in 1887. Reference: https://www.singersewinginfo.co.uk/15/ and this type is still being produced for new machines today. The famous Singer 15 sewing machines used this shuttle, and it have been produced for a large number of years, in many variations and with many clones from most other sewing machine manufacturers.
They do have some variations, so any shuttle hook do not fit to any machine.
My Singer 237 do also use a class 15 shuttle, and I tried to find out why it would not sew with heavier thread. And I discovered, that the shuttle hook had some sharp edges at its thread U-turn guide. I have noticed from pictures of replacement shuttles on the internet, that they do also come with sharp edges, that might damage your thread. So I have made this short video about the problem:
