Default Kenmore 158.480

I just fell for one of these today- looked kinda neat and was in a cabinet. I know zilch about it though - it didn't come with a manual or anything though I saw a few manuals on ebay. I see a place for cams but the kenmore cams she has at the shop don't fit (she doesn't usually get kenmores unless they look neat/unusual and/or are cheap! took a pic but guess with the cell phone it's too big...

any info would be helpful!

somehow these 2 machines wanted to live with me too The Atlas is being serviced ( I went ahead and paid for that since it needed wiring) and the other I just wanted the cabinet but was a good deal and I thought one more rocketeer might come in handy..

I struggled forever trying to get the 500 in the cabinet- have been successful with heavier machines but not this sucker- never got it tightened so can't lower it. dunno why the screw won't tighten. only tried a couple of minutes with this kenmore- it felt heavier than some of the old singers I've done and I've been working out LOL! will have some help here Monday so will get his muscle involved...

Nice looking machines. Most people go the other way. They fall for the Rocketeer and not the cabinet.

Miriam's right. The bases are different. The Kenmore has square corners on the base, Singers and most other machines are rounded. I haven't tried but I think the hinge placement is wrong too.
The pink Atlas should fit though.

thanks I wasn't clear- the rockateer was in the cabinet it's in in the picture but I can't get it to stay secure so I can store it down- not sure if maybe this wasn't the cabinet made for a singer? in the shop it was set up like this for display not stored down. the kenmore is on the cabinet it was in - just couldn't manhandle it after wrestling with the singer

hmm so the atlas will fit in a singer cabinet? I was actually just looking for a cabinet for one of the machines I already have but for $80 for the machine and cabinet together I figured what the heck so basically accomplished nothing but adding yet another 500 to the herd...sigh..my reasoning goes out the door sometimes. I really wanted a cabinet for a 201 I'm wanting to use...but somehow these things happen to me!!!

Singer has several size bases - you will need to measure.

does anyone know what cams this takes? (kenmore 48) I'm in a kenmore group(and requested to join another) but their cam chart only says it takes B cams and that there are 18. an ebay auction as a book for model 48 and deluxe zig zag cams(black in a clear plastic orange case - 16) so I"m not sure if it's the black cams or if she just put these 2 things together. I also see some brown colored cams and one listing says late 50s or early 60s seems like which I think is the time of this machine
also is there a free download for this machine online? I keep getting paid sites and not sure which are worth it though I'd prefer a printout copy to keep near the machine.
also feet, buttonholer, etc - have no idea what this machine uses -saw someone post it's a high shank when searching
