Smile Local yard sale with lots of machines

We went to a local yard sale that the children of a sewer were holding to clean out their mom's stash after her death. They had lots of old machines but they were way off on their prices, asking WAY too much and they didn't even know what each machine could or couldn't do. I should add they were her sons so I'll forgive them.

I have a question, I have a Featherweight and haven't used it in a year. If it sits but is covered up, does the oil/grease, harden? I tried sewing on it a few months ago and it wasn't running very well. My Janome is at the LQS for yearly service and I really need something to sew on. They offered a loaner but it would be just another heavy machine to lug up and down stairs to sew and then take back.

Yes it can, get out your book and clean the machine, oil and grease if necessary in the CORRECT holes and gears.

What Pat said. And of course do use a good sewing machine oil and grease.
