Default The Louisville Singer

I thought I was buying a Singer Model 12 last night. Didn't get a close look at it until this morning. Here is the surprise that I found. The badge reads "The Louisville Singer R.G. Whayne MFR Louisville, KY"

My that is a puzzle. It does look like a 12. Suppose it is an illegal clone? Some folk tried that.

any chance it is R. C?. three generations of that name are now buried in Louisville. hmm this one would have been a bit young to build a 12. Wonder who his father was?

There were several early companies that tired to use the name "Singer" on their machines, it kept Singer's lawyers busy. Those machines can be quite collectable now.

Good eye Leon. On the badge comparing the letter G in singer, It must be R.C. Whayne. Thanks for your research.
