Default Machine Model?

Hi,

I can buy this machine for $40.00 but I don't know what model it is. Can anyone identify it for me?
Thanks, Nancy

Hi Nancy, that's a Singer 101, the predecessor to the 201. It has the very first potted motor. Since it's a quite old model, dating from the 1930s, chances are pretty high it will need to be re-wired, but obviously I can't tell about this specific machine without seeing it in person.

hope that helps,

That is a 101 and it is the first model that Singer made to be strictly electric. I think it is difficult to service because the bed has to come off to clean/oil the underside, rather than just tipping it back. That is IMHO, some folks really like them.

This is a landmark machine, the first all electric. Thank you for saving it from an uncertain future.
