Default My cousin's Franklin, help identifying it?

Hi all, my cousin has a Franklin in a beautiful cabinet (Sorry, I forgot to take a pic of the cabinet)

She needs to replace the front slide plate, and I may have found it,... IF it's a Franklin M vibrating Shuttle machine. Can anyone confirm this or point me to the correct model?

The dimensions of the opening seem to be virtually identical to the Model 27 she also has. The Franklin may be a smidge shorter, but width is the same.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

while searching online for something else, I came upon this.

http://www.singeroriginalvintageprod...EORIGINAL.aspx

You could contact this guy and ask him - he has a lot of Singer stuff and some others. He's a few hours away from me, and some day I'd love to go look at what he's got.

If that is the same, I would not be suprised to find someone at some point bought that machine specifically to get the plate with the patent info on it. Sometimes when you can pick these up on Craigslist for under $50, it's the best way to get the part. Then they turn around and sell it to someone unsuspecting that assumes it won't be that hard to find the missing piece.

On a good note, sometimes it is not that hard to find another that fits - just without the patent information stamped on it.

Thanks MacyBaby! That's the great part. The plates I found look like they're original, though the info on the plates is needle information, not patent info. I forgot that there was a photo of the machine in the posting too, it -looks- the same, now all I have to do is find out if there was more than one VS type machine that Franklin made and if the plates would have been a different size.

I contacted Duane once before about a quilting guide for one of my puzzle boxes. He said he had it, but wanted $28 plus shipping for it. I had to pass. He's got some neat stuff, but his prices are hard to figure out.

Looks like Thayer Rags has a few Domestic Franklins for parts:

Hi Jon,

Thanks for that link. I have a line on the plates if I can make sure that this one is an "M" model. If it's not though, I will get in touch with Thayer Rags for sure.
