Default My "new" old antique

I acquired my grandmothers circa 1903 Singer model 27 treadle machine over 40 years ago. It has been languishing since 1980 when it was disassembled in order to take it from point a to point b. Just this summer I decided it was time to fix it up and get it working. The cabinet was beyond restoration, it was a rebuild. All the veneers were stripped off the top pieces and new wood added to get the required thickness in order to reuse the hinges. I then painted the new wood with a darker color, once that was dry, I top coated it with a chalk paint, color was called serenity blue. When that was dry, I lightly sanded it to achieve a distressed look, then applied a light coat of wax. The drawers were already distressed ha ha, so they were simply painted and waxed. The legs were cleaned and spray painted black. I used a modeling paint in a brass color to repaint the logos. That was the cabinet. On to the machine which was extremely dirty. The hubby cleaned the inside for me (he also did the wood work for me) and I tackled the exterior. I was amazed at how many decals kept emerging, they were covered from the decades of oil, dust, dirt, grime and whatever else. I'm happy to say the machine is now back in its new old cabinet and runs well. I have never used a treadle machine and knowing this belonged to my grandmother makes it even more special. I've made a bag already using it, had a blast doing so. Now I have to decide what will be next, nothing too extreme for sure. Thanks for looking.
