Default Need an Antique Singer specialist!!

I have an antique singer treadle base that I bought over 25 years ago. No info at the time, just loved it. It is in great working condition, very little rust, and the wooden rod is still intact. It says April 15, 1879 there is a stamped number 18 on the inside of the top bracket, and Singer in the medallion. I have tried google searching about it, and trying to find out what machine would have originally been on it. I would love to find out what this piece's history is. Ultimately, I would love to find a top and machine as well.

I'm guessing it probably had an Improved Family machine. https://www.worthpoint.com/worthoped...machine-mod-15 and "1884 Singer “Improved Family”" at https://projects.foxharp.net/sewing_machines/

Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do.

I so wish I could reach through this computer and give you a personal THANK YOU!!!! That is 100% the base I have. I have spent years and years trying to figure out what the base was.

I guess what I have is quite rare.

Now the search begins for a machine, and top-----

I am so very thankful for your sharing of your knowledge.

(Do you happen to have a rare "Improved Family" machine kicking around??
