I had a New Home sewing machine when I was in high school and early years of marriage. I remember it was green in color. I am curious; what year was the New Home sewing machine discontinued. I am aware they are now known as Janome, just curious when they stopped using the New Home name.

New Home was bought/taken over by Free Westinghouse (I think in the 30's) and after that New Home was just a name that Free put on their machines. Then Janome bought them ( I think Westinghouse sold the sewing machine division, or something like that) and Janomoe started putting the New Home name on some of their machines, I don't know when Janome decided to drop the New Home name, but the actual New Home Company was long gone before Janome got the name.

A Free Mfg machine badged as "New Home" is nothing like a New Home made by New Home, and a Janome machine badged as a "New Home" is nothing like one made by Free.
