If you have any Amish or Mennonites near you, they will know where to have a treadle machine fixed, cleaned, tuned up and re-belted. They use them all the time.

I found mine thanks to my "rust detector" abilities (Heather says I am magnetically attracted to rust...) I found it at the local swap meet in a pile of rusty pliers and screwdrivers. It had a lovely patina of a medium orange brown. Then I attacked it with my wirewheel and Viola! working Singer brand tool (yep, made by Singer)

There are companies making them still but they are like $40-$50 each... yikes! I paid $3
