Nice old Kenmore with two manuals that don't match
I purchased an older Kenmore for my grand daughter to work on. It came with two instruction books..One for Model 95 and the other for Model 1752. The Model # on my machine is 2142. Are these instruction manuals interchangeable? I did get it threaded and it sounds good. Any words of wisdom? Thanks Gretchen

Gretchen, I believe that the number 2142 is the motor number. The plate that is on the bottom front of the machine (tipping the head back slightly) should be where the model number is. It will probably be something like 158.1752 or maybe 158.95. It should also have a serial number. Kenmore manuals will sometimes cover more than one model. Did the pictures in the manual look very similar to the machine you have?

If you go to www.searspartsdirect.com you can do a search for the manual. Sears sometimes left off some of the model numbers on the tag when they printed the model number on the manual. The manual that has Model 1752 could be the manual for the machine.

I believe that, probably, both are very compatible. Have you compared them to each other? Do the pictures in the manual look like your machine? I'm thinking that they, more than likely, have very similar pages.
