Reminds me of a boat tail speedster or a fine classic wooden speedboat....

would like to have seen it demonstrated other than just pressing on the base. Would have to be careful about pushing on the base at any time.

That is pretty cool! I too would have liked to see it working. I love how it has leather on the top. Very pretty and encouraging that engineer students are working to improve sewing machines! Thanks for sharing! I wonder how the thread keeps correct tension and did it have a bobbin?

It looks like a drop in bobbin from the cut away diagram.

It would have been nice to see it threaded. Very nice design though.

What, no hand wheel? And where's the thread? Nah, that's not black enough or heavy enough for me.

I too, think that this is very "cool". Would love to see it working.

I like the lines, that's for sure. I think if it was vintage most of us here would want one just for that reason. It's encouraging that someone is at least trying to make a simple mechanical machine that is more than a toy. If the price is somewhat reasonable it may encourage more people to sew, not a bad thing IMO.
I would have to try the pressure sensitive control before I came to any conclusions about whether it's easier or not but it does seem that the control is the weakest link on that machine. I wonder how it will still work when it is no longer new. It would be nice if it had the option for a traditional foot pedal.
