Default One I have been searching for

I have been looking for a mint green Spartan and yesterday one showed up on CL. When I met with the gentlemen I noticed that the bobbin cover plate was missing. After talking a little about this he whipped out his cell phone and searched ebay for this cover plate. The price on ebay was $8 so he came down $5, from $40 to $35 so I said that I would take it. It does have a bit of paint scratches on the side of the face plate which are down to the bare metal if I am looking at it correctly so I need help on how to fix that little problem. There is also a service label that seems to be chipping off so I wonder what to use to remove this label. I will order the bobbin cover plate from sew classic. Other than that she seems to be in very good condition and oh, so, so pretty. Now if I can only find an aqua blue colored machine, preferably Singer, I will be finished with my "hoarding" addiction of vintage sewing machines, I think!!!!!! Well, then again, maybe not. I am just so addicted to them I can hardly pass them up especially when they are priced very reasonable, if not down right dare I say cheap.

If that says made in Canada it is a 185J. I've replaced the belt with a light orange belt. I've love to find a white winder tire. The original one is greenish white with SINGER on the side. They are my favorite clickity, clickty machine. Versus the purr from the 201.

I think the service label adds to it's character! BUT if you really want it off you might try Goo be gone! Maybe even some WD 40. It's really cute!

Isn't that just a 185? I thought the Spartans were actually labelled as a Spartan?

Either way, nice machine!

I just acquired a Spartan although it's black. It's been the machine I'm the most excited by.

You know what's funny about that service label. That city called Red Deer Alberta, is just and hour and half drive north of where I live....in Canada.

Funny where sewing machines turn up.
