i was told once-one of the great thing about singer is the needles have not changed in 100+ years...if you buy a package of 'singer machine needles' they should work in any singer machine- i've found it to be true with my mom's 1970 singer, my 1956 (99-K), my daughter's 1997 singer...they all use the same needles.

No...they don't all use the same needles. You need 206 x 13 needles. You can't find them at stores, they'll need to be ordered online. SewClassic is a good start.

Definitely don't use standard needles on the 319w as it will really damage your machine. I found out the hard way.....with a major repair.....so take the time to order the 206x13 needles.....

I have gotten mine from E-bay. Always some for sale there.

I have gotten mine from AllBrands in bulk.
Buying them this way was cheaper and the price there was better than eBay.

That is not the case for a few singers . I have a 306W that takes a shorter needle, and using a standard needle will damage the machine.
Schmetz does make the needle its a 206X13 , that's what is on my package.

Cindy Peters also stocks the 206 x 13 needles as well as the bobbins.
