If it's free take it - if it doesn't work there are good parts... those have plastic gears - you will need to take a look at the gears

Stylist was my first machine, purchased new in 1973. Used it for 35 years with no problems.

My first machine also. Still use it for piecing. It's a workhorse and hasn't ever let me down.

Gears are relatively cheap and are available on Ebay! I'd get it.

I coughed up $20 for it and brought it home.

It does work. I did not realize it was a slant needle machine until I brought it home. DH cleaned it up and oiled it. I replaced the needle ( it looked like it was a 20/120) and it seems to be running better. DH took off the bottom cover and showed me a nice lint collectin.

There was absolutely no rust anywhere on it. It needs a new bobbin winder tire.

The motor seems kind of growly compared to my other machines, but the wiring appears to be oksy.

I did make sure that it had potential before I bought it - much to the annoyance of the person selling it!
