Out with the old and in with the older!
Hello to all,
Greetings from the frigid gulf south-snow flurries possible tonight!! Well after selling my Singer 29-4 cobbler/harness maker to a friend and giving my restored 1916 Singer 127-3 treadle to my granddaughter, I felt a void in my collection. So after a thorough search, I settled for a White sewing machine since I have none in my collection. It is a unique machine totally unlike my other machines and it was in decent working condition. I e-mailed Husk/Viking with the s/n and within the hour they said it was made Feb. 26, 1906. The balance wheel, stitch length and thread tension is very odd. It is a VS model and the shuttle has an internal rod and the bobbin has a hole through it so it will slip over the shuttle shaft. I will make a base for it and will be on a search for another shuttle and a few bobbins. I hope you enjoy the photos. Chow for now.

That is a lovely machine - if you need shuttles, bobbins or attachments, give me a PM. I bought a large lot of Boye Shuttles and ended up with quite a few White shuttles and bobbins. And I have more White attachments than any sane person needs, since I only have one White VS machine, and two White Rotary machines.

Nice looking machine. My wife and I have one from the same year with serial number 1519754 that my maternal Grandmother received in 1929 as a (used) wedding gift. It was Grandma’s first sewing machine as well as my first, even though I didn’t really care doodely about sewing machines when she gave it to us back in 1982. Technically, it was given to my wife, but she shares it with me since it was my Grandma’s. Ours looks a little rougher than yours. We hauled it around with us every time we moved as young parents, and in 2007, I got it up and running (with the help of a donor machine) so we could use it. Although it doesn’t get much work, it has always had a place of honor in the sewing room.
