I believe it's the same Hebert B. Grinnell mentioned in the second column of this document's page. H.B. is one of the three Grinnell brothers involved in with Singer:

From the cool folks on NeedleBar.org....
"Sydney A Bennett was a witness on one of the famous James Bolton's Singer treadle cabinets. And furthermore, here's a quote from Hounshell around the time that the Improved Family was being introduced (only a few years later than your document): Bennett was McKenzie's assistant and was reporting back on the early production of the IF, only six machines passed inspection one week; the machining department had miscentred the shuttle race of every machine that week! He was heavily involved with the evolving production systems and instrumental in areas of precision, inspection and standards. |
Ok Cogito. I stand corrected. LOL I just love to look at this antique material. It is so wonderful to have people interested enough to do it. Barny

The cost of having this and several other documents professionally mounted drives me to learn to do it myself....
Wednesday we are picking up a used Logan Mat Cutting kit! |
That's why I stay away from collecting all the ephemera that goes with sewing. Now you get to add picture framer to your list of skills. Actually a bit more than that because you're going to want to mount to museum standards with acid free everything so you don't damage the documents. Not a bad thing to learn, just more skills and equipment. Start shopping for an antique miter trimmer- you'll like those.
