I've never heard of depression glass having lead in it. The only glass ware I know that has lead in it is lead crystal. Depression glass, though highly collectible now, was mass produced as free incentives for purchasing other things, not meant to be of a high quality. I've done some research on it since I have so much of it, inherited from my Aunt, in the blessing(or burden) of the house she left me. I definitely wouldn't use any old collectible glass in a microwave.

AAnd you even got the key too! They run from $7 to $15. Blanks aren't readily available for them in the midwest.

Hang on to that motor if you can. It’s got an unusual belt-tensioner on it....

DH looked at it and compared it to another Singer handcrank that I have. He believes that it originally was electric. It was not converted. Tell me about the belt-tensioner. Better yet, please show me a pic of a usual belt-tensioner.

Looks like it originally had a knee bar not a foot pedal. That is what the little hole in front of the case base was for. They get lost. Often there is also a metal bracket inside the dome top which would have held the knee bar when not in use.
