1940's White
I was given a 1940's White machine in a cabinet. It appears to have had very little use.
Mostly just dirty from sitting around. It has the book and lots of attachments. I have oiled it. I can't get the top thread to pick up the bobbin thread. Any suggestions? Thank you. |
Can you post pictures and the model number please?

I would check that the needle is in the correct way, correct threading of both top and bobbin thread. Cleaning can be an issue, especially if it's very dirty with built up lint and thread mess, it can prevent upper thread not interlocking with the bobbin thread properly. We need more info and pictures to give more detailed help.

Never sewn with a knee thing. |
You should be able to get used to it pretty quickly. I did with my Kenmore model 85. Good luck!

My Mom's White that was controlled with a knee lift -- I really loved it and am constantly trying to start my machine using the knee lift but it keeps raising the presser foot (LOL).

I think you will love the knee rise once you get used to it.
