99 Repainted with decals. Almost done!

Here's the latest update. The first clear coat went on this morning. I've learned a lot from doing this machine. I've made several mistakes and it's not perfect. I hope any boo boos aren't too glaring. However, I think it's coming out pretty nice for my first attempt. The amount of hours I have into this machine and case http://www.quiltingboard.com/vintage...t-t227351.html is huge. I plan on doing another one once I find a terrible looking machine.

It is looking really good! I can hardly wait to see her finished.

COOL, yes I am sure it took many hours to get it cleaned and then parts covered so that the paint didn't get into the moving parts. I am too much of a scaredy cat to try something like that. I admire those who are able to do that tho.

You've done a great job but now it's too pretty to use. LOL

Candace,

Looking good! I want to see the finished project.
You got more bravery than I do ... at least so far.

I've got a pitiful New Home AB that's in desperate need of a repaint.
Was a mouse home for a time. Here's some pics of the thing as it was when I got it:

This is the only machine I have that I think I'd even try to repaint. I'd like to find some original style decals though.

I am of the mind set that if I repaint an ugly machine it needs to be much different than the original in every way. Otherwise, I'd just buy a machine in good condition with good decals to begin with. My next one will probably involve pink in some sort of fashion.

Hehe. I'm sure the first mark I get on it will make me cringe, but I'm going to use it after I find a motor!

Looks sweet!

Candace,

That I understand. I was thinking of painting it a vermillion or deep burgundy color. But I do like that Greyhound in the decals and would love to keep those.

Joe, that wouldn't be too hard to do if it were in black etc. However, if you want the gold metallic that would be a different story. I don't currently do metallic decals. I could do them, but it's an added expense for sure. It means more cartridges to buy. And the metallic, Singer replica ones I've seen cost a fortune.
