Cresta T132-3 bobbin trouble
 

Hello, I'm very new to this and wondered if someone with a lot more experience than myself could help. Does anyone use a Cresta T132-3 and have trouble with the bobbin moving out of line? Many thanks in advance

I am not familiar with that machine. Can you post a pic of the machine and a close up of the problem area? Maybe someone can help figure it out. And welcome to the board!

It is likely a class 15 type bobbin area. Anyway I wrote up something to the effect of cleaning one a while ago:

Thank you for the replies, here is a picture of the machine and the troublesome bobbin. I really hope someone can give me some advice as it really does have a mind of its own and moves out of place just when I think I am getting somewhere!!!

That bobbin area looks like a Phoenix sewing machine sort of... Can you show more pics? Maybe a close up of the bobbin case - front and back?

I don't still have the Phoenix - someone on QB has one - they thread through a hole in the top of the bobbin case. Maybe yours has one, too. You might search Phoenix on here and see if you can get it to come up. Maybe it is similar enough to be of some help. The Phoenix is a wonderful machine. I let mine go to a little gal who deserved a good machine. I'm just betting your machine is a dandy once you figure it out.

At any rate I bet that machine is made in Germany or somewhere close. It looks like a cross between a Bernina and a Pfaff.

I own a Cresta T132 - 3 and have had it since 1968 when it was bought new for me (at age 16!) . I love the machine and have also bought another off ebay for spares - there is one going on there now for 0.99p - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3011499500...84.m1423.l2649 - just in case you need anything.

Re the bobbin and case - occasionally you can think you've clipped it in properly and he clip and the door will close on the bobbin area but it is not really in place and moves and makes a noise, and then when you open the door and clip the bobbin case actually falls out.

You appear to have the same bobbin case as me - there were at least 2 different ones, maybe 3. There is a hole in the top that I usually feed the bobbin thread through, then balance it on the flip up catch by holding that thread and flip the catch up quickly.

I think the manual says that adds more tension on the thread, and you don't have to put it through that hole - though I nearly always do.

Will take a look at my machine and manual tomorrow and post some pics of what I mean - if I can work out how!

The machines were made in Czechsovakia by Lada by the way.

So far I have not found any bobbins from anywhere that will fit though I have not tried a class 15 bobbin. Class 66 or Elna (Swiss machine) bobbins don't fit. Nor does the one from my New Home. I will be talking with Helen Howes http://www.helenhowes-sewingmachines.co.uk/bobbins.html at some point to see if she has any available that will fit - The type of hook is a vertical rotary in case you didn't know.
