Here is the bottom side of my recently purchased, used Majestic sewing machine. I am waiting for a new bobbin case to arrive in the mail, then I can do my sewing once again.

The elegant engineering of this machine amazes me.

I have a plan now. It is being completely "rebuilt" (down to bare iron, then paint) then, inspired by another persons "display setup", I plan to build a tall base with viewports and on the right side set up an internal 1" to 1-1/2" pulley and standard singer belt, with an external 3" diameter hand crank wheel (removable of course)

This should make it operate similar to a hand crank singer ratio wise. Add a cover and poof! a portable Early Howe that can be used.

Steve,

Since I have no idea what a Howe looks like, how about a pic of the top?

I originally asked if I should start a Howe thread, I think I will now...

Steve if you start a Howe thread, be sure to put all your current photos on that board - we want from start to finish. That machine will be stunning when it is completely done! What a fun and rewarding thing to do with a machine like that Howe - to restore it to its original glory!
