Favorite Machine?

Recently, I accumulated, rescued, purchased, collected, (each word is used depending who I'm speaking with) 3 machines, a 15 clone, a Morse ZZ, a Dressmaker w/external cams, and another 403. I have lubricated and adjusted each. Upon completion of each I tell myself this will be my favorite. I just finished the Younkers 15 clone and I'll be darned if it doesn't compete with my best 15-91. So---from now on when asked which is my favorite it will be the most recently used machine.

Do others have this problem? Does one usually gravitate to a particular machine? If so, which one? Let's assume you're using it to SS. I know there are specialty machines, like the 221 is lite, the cam machines give many stitches, etc. but, for the simple SS, which is your favorite? Enquiring minds need to know:o.

Can't say. It depends on the task.
I prefer to do piecing with the 221 and quilting with the 15-91. Something to do with how the machine purr and humm, if it make any sense :-)

I prefer which ever one is working when I need it.

Singer 201. Hands down.

I gravitate towards my vintage Berninas, Pfaffs and Elnas. I seem to prefer vintage European made machines. My two favorite Singers are the 15 and 301.

I've yet to try a 201 ... would love to as it might become my favorite, heard so many wonderful things about it.

My favorite ... a New Home/Janome 15 clone because it's a great machine and gorgeous in a two tone cream/avocado. After that would be a toss up between the 15-91 and the Spartan ... I just love that little Spartan!!

I prefer heathers Frister and Rossmann Model E handcrank. (the naked lady)

This model still has the early "hitch" in stitch mechanism to tug the seam tight AND has a very early full proportional reverse. Sews like the fabric is not even there.

Other than that, anything made by Wheeler Wilson....

My DH has that problem - each machine he cleans up and tests becomes his current favorite. However the 401 he is now in love with is not his to keep, so he's back to loving his 201 the best. My favorite is my Viking 990, been sewing on that one for over 30 years and until it sews no more, that isn't going to change. It actually does sew better than any of the other machines (all 50 of them) DH and I own.

For all things quilting, my Singer 301. For everything else, my Elna 62C. The others are fluff.

Isn't that like asking a Momma which is her favourite child? ;-)

Just kidding. I love the question, and I love reading people's answers as well!

Irishrose, what do you love so much about the Elna 62C?
