You might also try getting some cheap coffee and set it open up in the case for a few days, (not brewed, just as it comes)coffee does absorb odors

mine smelled as well.. i left the lid open out in my hot garage..(becaue it smelled so bad) now its fine.. and it's back in the house ! |

You keep the DH. I have one of those. I'll take the Featherweight! Always wanted one, but won't pay $400.00 for it. LOL Wouldn't pay that for DH either.

I have only found one problem with it, the case is in good shape but smells awful!!! I was wondering if anyone had any experience with getting the cases to clean up and smell better? I know alot of you have featherweights and might of had this problem too. Also I was wondering, my machine has a plain plate to the right of the needle but this new machine has one that has the 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8 and 3/4 lines marked on it. Does anyone know if this came on some models or if it is an aftermarket thing maybe added for quilting? I haven't looked at that many to notice if it is something some models had. Thanks for listening :)

My case didn't smell to me, but it must have had one because my cat kept clawing it. So, I bought a new one that looked identical to the old one and he clawed that too. So, I bought one of those canvas ones that you see advertised in quilting magazines. I love it.
Talking about husbands. I've found with mine, that I show any interest in gadgets or equipment, he wants to get it for me. Maybe because they like tools too?? You will love your Featherweight! Verna in So Cal |
Try wadding newspaper up and stuffing the case with it; the ink on the newspaper will absorb the odor. This works for spoiled food in the fridge also.
