There is a few of them all in a group and 2 antiques stores. They are on the east side of 287. I see featherweights in there fairly often. :-)

What a sweetie! Congrats! My case smelled when I first got it. Someone's advice to me was this, and it worked! I put a bar of Dove soap in my case, and kept it shut for a week. It really helped! :) Good luck!

the case for my featherweight also smelled mussy....I put crumpled newspaper and a bounce dryer sheet and left it in there for two or three days and it came out

I use an old trucker's trick....when we would haul onions, and after unloading, we'd sprinkle Folger's coffee in the bed of the truck to get rid of the onion smell. So...sprinkle a few tablespoons of coffee in the case and close it up for a few days....vacuum it out and it should be fine!

According to a Featherweight book I have by Nancy Johnson-Srebro, the gaged plates were put on Featherweights begining in mid-1952. Don't you just love the featherweight machine. It is my favorite for straight stitch quilting/sewing.

try an open dish of baking soda. Keep it in the case for a few days and see if you can set the case outside in the sunlight.

DID ANYONE GET ANY ADVISE FROM BILL (LOSTN51) ABOUT THE ODOR FROM THE FEATHERWEIGHT CASE? I HAVE ONE THAT HAS THE MARKINGS ON THE PLATE BUT THE CASE IS REALLY STINKY. MY FREIND HAS ONE ALSO BUT SHE BOUGHT A NEW CASE. THANKS peterparley
