Just found this site and I love my Featherweight. My son found it at a estate sale. He called me and I told him to run the machine and see its stich. He knows how to sew. It had some extras and a good condition case. Its from 1941 and from the serial number it must have been made in the fall of that year because they stopped making them as WW2 was started. Paid $250 for it and it works great. Put a new cord and got a 1/4 pressure foot. I use it along with my Jenome and White Rotary.

I have 3 FW. Two black, one white. The black ones are used every day. I have one in the sewing cave, and one in the living room. Two top of the line elnas are pushed back with cords wrapped and are only pulled out for zig zags or granddaughter sewing in slow turtle speed. The white FW had a broken pedal, definitely vintage, looking at the innards. hubby fixed it so it works good (not great). Hubby says if I want smooth electronic control, I will have to upgrade to an electronic pedal. Still thinking about it. No pics. They are very shy working girls.

I got mine a year ago in the Pawn shop in Detroit that is on TV. I LOVE IT!!!

With some help from some of the dear members here, I have determined that the Featherweight my husband bought me as an early birthday present actually works and so I'm keeping it. So here's a pic of her[ATTACH=CONFIG]558571[/ATTACH]

I bought a Featherweight 3 years ago. The man said it was his mom's machine and from the looks of it, she didn't use it very much. I tried it out and it ran great. With a year renting before moving in our home two years ago, I knew I had to get it out and start using it. I had signed up for Nova Montgomery's newsletter and in May received an email about her Maintenance Workshops being held "on the road" in 5 cities over 4 states: TN, OH, MA and VA. I didn't get in the first class in Williamsburg, VA but got on a Wait List. She then added a second day to each of those 5 cities and I got in. I recently went to the all day class and boy what a great teacher and knowledgeable person! I came home with a spiffed up FW (still needs some shining, though) and purrs like a kitten now. I was sending her a TY this morning and saw that she added even two more sessions in OH-but sold out. If you have a FW, want to know more about the maintenance of these beauties and can get to one of her sessions, I don't think you will be disappointed.

I went to a Featherweight maintenance class today, not Nova's, because she doesn't have one near enough, but this young woman is a certified SW technician and has three Featherweights, has worked on very many of them, and knows Nova, so nothing she said came as a surprise to me, except don't use Tri-FLow, which I've been using and will probably continue. It was enjoyable to be there with 9 other people and their Featherweights. We got as much personal attention as we needed and all machines left sewing perfectly and very shiny!!
