I live in Canada and they go from $275 for a pretty rough one to about $400 for a good one in my area.

We have a range of prices in this area, but over 275 is stretching it.

Just saw one 2 days ago at a quilt show in Aurora, Oregon that the starting bid was $300. It was a 1947 model.

On the high side but it seems demand has driven up the price. I bought a white one for $210 of CL. It is what it is worth in your eyes. Make sure it runs well, does not have to much wear and tear, has the case in good condition, has extras and manual.
I prefer the Singer 301 "big sister" to the feather weight Singer 221 to take along and sew on. These are both straight stich. The Elna "grasshopper" is wonderful machine but way too heavy for me to take along. Elna "grasshopper" with cams. Not very portable but can do many more stitches. As I just mentioned in another posting I just bought 2 this summer and got an amazing price..one was a 1949 scroll face for $125 and the other was an estate sale and I left a bid of $70..nobody wanted it and so that was the price I paid...it is a 1950 Edition....Canadian $$$ too...so I am just ecstatic...both have been cleaned up and are great..
