Found a bronze embossed White rotary!
 

I stopped at a yard sale on the way home from work yesterday and found a much neglected, but very restorable bronze White rotary. It has some light surface rust and is missing a few parts. But for $5 I'm not complaining!

Even nicer than the brown one ;- ) The cylinder shaped motor looks very nice too, I hope it can be serviced and work as it should. I've never seen anything like it, except maybe those cast iron treadle stands. Where there any case or speed controller with it?

No controller or anything else with it. The motor looks ok, but haven't tested it yet. Here is the backside. The motor is the same color too.

Any idea of how old it is? I've never seen those cast iron decorations in the body, I imagine it is a sort of extra decorated version of a known model? I hope you get around to restoring it and let us know how it runs. There's not as much info on these White Rotary models as other brands.

I haven't found. Anything definitive, but I think it was made around 1929-1930ish. It's next in line after the Singer VS2 I'm working on now.

That's about the same time as Singer 201 was introduced, which I think was their first rotary bobbin model (except for industrial possibly, but I don't know of any). The white rotary is much older though. The White tension mechanism is rather fancy, as well as a very neat motor setup. Any trace of a light ever being fitted on it?

Most older machines are sort of hinged together, some have meshing gears. How does the inners look?
