I wouldn't pay that much for a machine in that condition..the decals are badly worn...
I guess if it works that's a plus but it's far from top quality.
The cabinet is very pretty and looks like it's been cared for though.. Still a lot of money.

I would think that the machine is not worth that much, but tell the lady what you would be willing to pay, and give her your phone number, and add the price your willing to pay, to that card. Tell her if she is willing to consider that amount at a later time, give you a call. You never know, she might find she is high and give you a call back.

No, no and no. Cute and unusual but not remotely worth $300 or anything close.

I wouldn't pay $300. I just found a decent Singer treadle for $20.

She's too high for it. I recently bought a 1934 red-eye singer treadle with 7 drawers and in great condition works like a charm for $125. I think there are better and cheaper machines out there but you have to decide for yourself. Good luck. Patti

Way too much money!

The decals are worn or maybe she tried to clean the machine with something toxic to the decals. There is also rust on the bobbin winder. I'd offer less and see what she says. The Free is a very smooth running machine when properly cleaned and oiled. The treadle wheel has ball bearings in it and its really easy to treadle. I have a set of Elgin irons made by Free.

Vintage Sewing Machine by Free-Westinghouse (7077935)
Currently $19.95 USD- Goodwill

http://cgi.ebay.com/Free-Westinghous...-/230538031280
($175.00 on e-bay)

Didn't find any higher than $175.00. Sometimes I find that antiques are prices by what the current owner paid in a retail setting vs. what they are worth. I think $300 is too much, even if in immaculate condition and if it had the belt that is driven by the pedal.

That is a nice machine, but I think $300 is too much. I think you can do better on Craigslist.

susanwilley 05-22-2011 03:57 PM

I wouldn't pay 300.00. The case is beautiful it self, but I still think 300.00 is a little high.
