Thanks Miriam for the service manual. I downloaded it and printed out the lubrication pages. Now to wait for my Tri-Flo grease from Sew Classic. Did you use that kind of grease in the motors of the 99s and FW machines?

You really should ask Joe - he has all the 'dirt' on oil and grease.

OK Joe, I've got some Tri-Flo grease coming from sew-classic. Do I want to use it in my Singer motors. or do I want to get the Singer grease? I know I can use it on my gears.

Janis,

Tri-Flow is great grease for gears and cams but not motors. The motors need the grease to get soft and wick into the bearings, something the Tri-Flow grease won't do. Go to the Sew-Classic page where she lists the T-F grease and read all she has to say about it. She also has a link to her blog where she give more information.

While your there order a tube of the Singer Lube. That grease is for Singer motors. You can use it for the gears and cams too, but the T-F grease really shines there.

Joe

I want one!! Your Mom is lucky and will love it, especially as she doesn't have to "relearn" how to use it.
