Nice machine. I found one at a thrift shop and the folks on here helped me get it unstuck. It was quite the challenge but I'm happy I did it.

Did you go back and get that 401A Singer? It looked to be in great condition. I have a very good maintenance man who can make a machine hum in one servicing session. Cost about $100 but well worth it. He only recommends a tuneup about every two-three years.

I love mine. It's in a desk cabinet. DH was a little upset that I spent what I did but it had the cams and attachments. I went on line and watched YouTube videos by Vince (?) can't remember his name and a few others. The morning after I purchased mine by the way was owned by an interior decorator, DH found out how it mended his denim jacket. I just happened to have the right colored thread. It sewed through 3 layers of denim like butter. I paid $150.00 for it and would do it again. Hubby maintains my 401a happily.
