Herd? Stable? Flock? Murder? School?
What is the proper term for our, er, collections?
;) |
horde cache
|
Without a doubt....it's "Absolute Essentials"!
|
:D I would love to use murder but alas, not all of my machines are black.
I tend to call it "the horde". |
Husband will murder me for bringing more home.

Getting rid of machines is "Thinning the herd". Miriam after your last buy I think mountain might apply in your case. Rodney |
Yes well I need to make a post about how you know when to junk out a machine... I'm getting really good at it. That will thin the herd, too.
|
mine is Precious! Ok- so I've been watching Lord of the Rings again - but seriously, it borders on some sort of obsession, don't you think?
|
Some of mine are SSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOoooo not Precious..............
|
Insanity?
That's how my DH refers to my FEW machines. |
Well, I have a small herd,[15] but a sister thinks I've had one too many strokes. She thinks it cleared out my head. She will say what in the ............are you going to do with those machines. I didn't know I had to do anything with them, but look and oil and clean and touchy, feely. I love them.
|
I'm done worrying what my family thinks - With the way the new health care is likely to take away our assets if we run up a big bill, they will at least inherit some kind of asset... just saying... I doubt if the gvt wants sewing machines, houses and land yes... machines I highly doubt it. Just keep them from rusting. :D:D:D

Lots of the machines are Singers, no? How about a chorus?
|
A chorus with all sopranos?
|
Maybe this will help. There were literally millions of sewing machines produced. Compared to that even out largest ummm collections, herds, murders, mountains, choruses, whatever are really quite small. We can collect as many as we want and not feel guilty.
Rodney |
a "necessity". a "comfort relief" "mental health". "mine"

A chorus of sewing machines. Excellent. And so it shall be. |

Aha! I have Singers for the choir:

I agree Rodney. Mountain would seem to fit Miriam. BTW Miriam how is that project coming along?

I was thinking a "pride" because we are proud of our machines but I think I like chorus better. They do hum beautifully.

Keep on stitchin', you. With that Chorus. I love that word!!! Miriam, mountain indeed. Miriam is awesome. |
my machines are definitely a "possession" but I'm not sure if I posses them or they posses me . . .
|
I call mine A Bevy of Beauties They have also been referred to as Black Witches due to their putting a spell on me to go and bring home more. My MIL had a quirky sense of humor : ) Every thing else in my sewing room is my Treasure Trove but it could be My Hope Chest =as in-
I hope I can get all this fabric quilted some day so I can buy more LOL |

Ohhhh, black witches! I like that.
:D I actually need to get a move on with the quilting. If I clear a shelf of fabric.... I can have more room for a machine. |
Collector- too bad I had to quit from lack of space and MONEY. 6 sewing machines and two sergers are enough for our little place with all HD collections (guns)
|
I call mine "The Collection" I want to be able to use each machine in rotation for the specialness of each one. I have well over 30 but only about 20 will remain in "The Collection" and of those only 8 -10 will be in the house. The others will be out in the studio. The rest will be rehomed.
I am in control. NO insanity here. ;) |
I consider my rescues. That way I get away with bringing home another . . . rescue.

How about Haram or Flock
|
A Circle (Sewing Circle)
|
Mine is my herd. Thinning the herd? Shudders at the thought.
|
I like a "chorus of Singers". For other VSMs, how about a "gather"?
|
Power Tools - I told DH they are my power tools that help make quilts and projects and provide therapy. About two years ago, I found a great treadle to put in my sewing room. DH immediately went to work on getting a belt for it so I could use it. By the time the belt came, I had cleaned the cabinet and set it up as a space to put my precuts and pretties. When DH said, "I thought you were going to sew on it???!!!" I replied, "And I thought you were going to use the Craftsman Router that is still in the unopened box for the last 36 years!" Nothing more to be said...
