I took care of the issue totally-- I made mine a hand crank!!! Joe wanted the left over parts, so I sent them along.
I have no idea about amps and controller thingys. that is what my DH is for. He he. :D

My gozilla is getting a little sister.... Franki... she is to be a Franken-zilla. I ordered a stripped kirinkle finish for the main shaft... well it got here and was just to nice to ignore... so another bit of scrounging and I came up with everything ( minus the presser foot bar) from an Older 128.... so together she is going, Chormed out grape leaf scrolled Gozilla finish with a Big spoke hand wheel. I will report ( and post mug shots) when she wakes up after surgery.

I just got a new pedal for my 201-2. Have them wire it for you. It works so very well.

The hand crank was a good option. I need 3 hands just to sew so haven't been that adventurous.

My 201-2 gave me the hot foot also with the brown, bakelite, pedal. I got my electronic one from Jennie at Sew Classic and it works like a charm. No heat. My husband wired it for me, but it was difficult. I would recommend you have them do it, if you go that route. They have that service for $5 or $6 dollars, well worth it. Just plut in and sew when it comes.

Hand cranking isn't very hard once you learn.
