Joe, there's really no alternative to seeing it being done. If you don't have someone then youtube is your best option. I watched it then tried to do it myself, but it takes practice: Quite a bit in my case.
There are two hemmers: The narrow one (the roll hemmer) and the bigger one with the ruler. Haven't used the latter but roll hemming must be done slowly and carefully. I no can do U-tube, crotchety machine takes way to long to download videos, sometimes hours - not kidding. I'll get it somehow. Joe |
Joe,have u tried using a pin to help the fabric to feed into the *grove*or ???

mimi=17,
No I haven't. I just read most of the pages from the magazine linked to in the first page and it looks do able. I'll have to try it. Preferably when my brain wants to work. Kind of sluggish this morning. Joe |
Charlene Phillips has a Facebook page under The Sew Box. She used to have a website, but I'm not having any luck finding her that way. Oh yeah....I found it for you. http://www.thesewbox.com

Karen,
Thanks for the links. The "thesewbox" link opened but the other two did not. This one gives me a link to buy her book so that's good. Joe |

Pat,
Thanks. I'll check there. Joe |
Oh, do I ever have the same problem - hemmer feet everywhere and can't work one of them!
|
Thank you so much - I just ordered it!

I viewed a video using a thread attached to lead the material through the hammer by gently pulling the material by the thread as one starts to sew. Getting the knack of feeding material only comes with practice. The resulting hems are worth the effort.
