Absolutely it's vintage enough, and a BEAUTIFUL machine!
I think I need one of those... :) Yes, definately vintage enough and it's really a looker! I have looked at a couple of those 306's, but have decided I don't need one....Charlee...no more machines!! LOL I'll be YOUR hall monitor!! LOL |
Number on the face plate? Face plate is shiny black with a Chrome thread guide area. The model number is on a tag under the stitch length regulator, she is a 306w (319 with no typewriter keys) yes she is a cam machine and I am pretty excited to have her. She uses the funky 206x13 needles and the thin bobbins, but that's ok, I am just going to stock up.
Picture is misleading, she is in very good condition but not mint. In the photo the white spot just behind the upper thread guide is a chip, and the Chrome on some of tknobs is marred. A lot of polishing type scratches in the black, and the gold leaf is just starting to lift a little. Still very pleased and proud to own her. I have some needles in the mail to me and she is running on tje treadle. You will see more of her I am certain. :) |

I wish I knew. Serial number starts with a W and all the singer site gives me is they started using w in 1910. So I am unsure..... I gather they were only made for a couple years.......starting in 54?

I know where the serial number is, and I know it was not made in 1910, just that the simger site says for "w" the single letter of my set# ..... "starting 1910". That is all they say. I am sure someone here could tell, but I have not felt like unbelting it again to write down the exact serial, I have been having to much fun spinning it over and being amazed at how smooth she is (especially compared to the vibrating shuttle she replaced) I will get around to tracking her down, but I don't expect any great suprises as they were offers in a very narrow year window (aprox '54-'59 I think)
PS. Proof readong this it sounds kinda snarky, it is not meant to be. Just trying to clear up what I know about it. PPS. Yes it is a low shank machine. |
So pretty!!!
