I got one! My Aunt Jane bought me a featherweight .She is a new one a 2010 model, but you'll never guess what she paid for it , 12.50 , yes twelve dollars and fifty cents! Can you believe it? I just can't believe it yet.I'm still looking for one of the old ones at a reasonable price, but I am tickled pink with this one!

wolfkitty 01-08-2011 11:09 PM

Can you post a picture? :)

Katiequiltsalot 01-08-2011 11:28 PM

I'm sorry but don't know how,but when my dd comes home I'll get her to.

gale 01-08-2011 11:38 PM

A 2010 featherweight for $12.50?

Katiequiltsalot 01-08-2011 11:43 PM

Yes,can you believe it!

gale 01-08-2011 11:49 PM

I can't wait to see a pic. They are so cute!

QuiltnCowgirl 01-09-2011 12:32 AM

Is this one of the reproduction Featherweights that someone posted about a couple of weeks ago? Maybe that is why it is a "2010"?

gale 01-09-2011 12:35 AM

It would have to be but the one linked was something like $400.

hpylady 01-09-2011 02:09 AM

bkb 01-09-2011 05:01 AM

Where did she find it?

manley 01-09-2011 05:19 AM

Yea, where did she find something like that, so cheap. I want one of those too. I just recently got my first Featherweight and I love it. It was made in 1952.

Katiequiltsalot 01-09-2011 06:14 AM

She found them at a auction in a little town near me.She said they had a lot of them.Apparently found in a old warehouse. Some of them were locked up and wouldn't work,so they let her try them out and find a good one.I don't think they knew what they had.It isn't a old one it says2010 right on it. It has the Singer name on it also.It could be a reproduction, but if it is it's sure a good one

CarrieAnne 01-09-2011 06:42 AM

When I saw the post title that said "I got one" I knew exactly what this was going to be. Congratulations on the FW. Lucky you.

bkb 01-09-2011 06:57 AM

Congrats! Wish I had been there......

Deborah12687 01-09-2011 07:04 AM

WOW....you got a real good deal on that machine. I was at the flea market this summer and someone was selling a feather weight for $50.00 that was in mint condition. I wanted to buy it but I didn't have enough cash to buy it. I am hoping to find one this summer at the flea market.

featherweight 01-09-2011 07:10 AM

Sorry, I didn't realize they still made Featherweights of any kind in 2010.

dunster 01-09-2011 07:22 AM

Could it be the new Singer 118 Featherweight?

http://www.amazon.com/Singer-118-NEW.../dp/B0007Z3J5G

Singer has reused the name "featherweight", obviously to cash in on their earlier success. But this one looks nothing like the older machines. I hope it wasn't this one.

this is what I wondered...there is a company that is cloning the older FW tho

amma 01-09-2011 08:23 AM

Woo Hoo!! Can't wait to see it :D:D:D

Candace 01-09-2011 09:30 AM

This is a reproduction and there have been threads about them. Not very positive threads, I'm afraid. But for $10 you can't go wrong. Just remember, it's not a REAL FW, it's a copy and not made of the same materials.

Katie, again, Congrats! We are happy for you! I remember when I got my FW. I purchased her from a very nice man in Canada. His name is Norm, so I named her "Norma". That's because he was so nice to deal with and was so sweet. She is a workhorse for sure! She is a 1957 model only 4 yrs. younger than me. I love old things and really appreciate back in the day stuff. Enjoy your featherweight. Thanks for sharing! :)

Actually, Today's Special on HSN is a Singer "Electronic" Featherweight. It is going for about $300. I like my old girl though. :)

Congrats on such a great deal!

Congratulations! I know you'll enjoy it. I've never sewed on a Featherweight, but I've heard about them all my life (I'm fifty). I think my Grandmother had an antique one, but I'm not sure. I think my aunt probably has it now. I should ask her.

Deb G 01-10-2011 01:26 PM

Yes, please post a picture. Would love to see it no matter how new or old it is.

luckylindy333 01-10-2011 01:55 PM

They had them on HSN last night for $299.00, I think- they said they were around $400.00 normally. For $12.50, I think it would be OK- too bad when they started making Singer's out of plastic parts.

these machines are not to be confused with real, vintage Singer 221, Featherweights. 221 production stopped in 1960 or 64. NONE were made after that. the new company making these has bought the Singer name. these are white, I think. there are white 221, but so different from these. check out some Featherweight sites, please. no comparison in quality.
