BTW Macybaby, I've also wondered if the numbers mean something, so it's good to know I'm not the only one that doesn't know. I've got too much time on my hands if I think of strange things like this......:p
Debbie, Cathy may have missed this part of your message: The 15 is because the first machine to use the needle was a Singer 15. In the same way class 15 bobbins are also named for that machine. Singer 12s used a 12x1 needle, the Singer 206 was the first machine to use a 206x13 and the Singer 16 the first to use a 16x231.
