I'm in LOVE with my 15-91

I knew I wanted this 15-91 because I wanted to have a machine here at the cabin that I can FMQ on. WOW! I'm so impressed! I threaded up the newer, fancy Viking 1+ with the walking foot and the 15-91 with the darning foot. I did have to take the thread cutter off for the darning foot to fit. I figured that having both machines would make things easier... not having to change the two feet. But, after stitching the straight lines on the Viking and having to fight with the quilt to get it to go in the direction I wanted, I started working on the 15-91 and decided to just put the Viking away. This 1942 machine is sewing circles around that Viking. And, the stitches look really good.... the FMQ isn't perfect but I'm still learning to do that.

So, next time someone wants to know the best vintage machine for FMQ.... I've got the answer!! The 15-91 is amazing. I really need to keep quilting so I can get done before we leave for the winter.

Your quilt looks so pretty! I like the way your are quilting the black sections. Please post the finished quilt in the quilt sections. I would love to see the entire finished quilt. Enjoy your Singer 15-91!

Hmm I might have to pull mine out of the corner it's in. It lives in a cabinet and currently the stereo sits on top of it. :)

I do have a 201 that was stretched to 18", it lives on a frame. If someone could adapt a stitch regulator to work with it, I'd quilt the planet! Lol.

Hmmm. I sew on the 1941 15 and 201. The bobbin from ebay was some weird brand 'Iris' and didn't work in the 15-91. The new one from sew-classic just arrived so I'm giving it another chance. will definitely try free-motion when I set it up.

I knew you would LOVE that machine!!! Aren't they the best? I fought with one last night. Something in the motor melted all over the machine. When I picked it up it went all over my hand and clothes. DH pulled the motor and took it all apart. I cleaned up the machine and it is just fine. DH is fooling with the motor at a later date... He's been reading the manual and Rain's blog for further info: http://vssmb.blogspot.com/ The next best machine is an old clone...

I, too, LOVE my 15-91 for FMQ'ing! I just purchased a 301 and it does a great job with FMQ'ing, also, but the stitches on the 15-91 can't be beat. Now that I have the 301 for piecing, I am leaving the 15 set up for FMQ all the time. Your quilting looks awesome!
