that was a neat article. he sounds like an interesting character. would love to have him give a guided tour of his machines where I could ask questions along the way. I'll be sure to wear my bib to catch the drool! lol

Yes, that is an interesting article! "Singer came out with a surgical sewing machine used in the field to stitch wounds" gave me chills...ick! It must not have done too well because surgeons still do their "hand stitching" today...LOL

Thanks for sharing that! Great article. It's wonderful to find someone so knowledgeable about the history of the sewing machine. My DH collects antique telephones (we have over 50 in our family room and many times that in his basement workshop). He's a treasure trove of telephone trivia. He loves watching old movies to identify the phones. I'm trying to listen to the dialogue of the movie while he's drooling over the 1933 Westinghouse candlestick phone!

That was interesting. I sent it to my son, who bought his first machine yesterday.... a Singer Slant-o-Matic. I'm hoping he catches the repair bug!

Saw the article in a treadle on post, also. What a great article! I enjoy reading about the history of our machines. (It also acts as an enabler, so watch out! I picked up a beautiful little Singer 128 VS after reading this!)
