Looks like we are NOT going to the Kinetic Carnivale in Willits

In the process of sorting out the details they mentioned that they had us set up for a "concrete ground" area.... I asked to clarify and they said that we were outdoors....

I was under the impression that we were in the hall, not outdoors.

9 treadles, 5 hand-cranks all over 120 years old in the 90 degree sun, not gonna happen.

They assumed we would be bringing up ez-ups because "all the other vendors do"

Sorry, not a "vendor"

VERY disappointed, but life is what it is.

I don't blame you. 90 degrees in the open air, no shade = no go (even without the sewing machines).

So sorry Steve. :(

Ugh! So disheartening. But glad you got it clarified now instead of later!

It is worse than that. 48 hours out doors including two nights.
The humidity shift would be horrible on the wood.

Smart move though disappointing.

It's why I haul derelict machines...

ok, I'll admit it... I do not understand this reply....

I haul the machines that are already bruised and battered. Rust and dirt have been removed. They have been cleaned of lint and oiled I have a bit of time in them.... They will hand crank and let kidos punch paper. They honestly can't hurt them. I put them in plastic cases to haul. They will set on the table in wooden boxes. They will go back into plastic cases for over night inside the tent. These are not your work of art machines. Just old junky old re-rehabilitated derelict machines - much better to use them for this than for parts or scrap. Most people want something a lot prettier if they are going to buy one. I'm also going armed with needles, thread and fabric so they can see why sewing machines were invented. If we decide to sew with thread we can - I highly doubt if anybody will stick around real long.

I would stick around for a long time to talk machines with you Miriam! :)
