This is Marvelous Marv. He has a beautiful smooth stitch and a nice long number 6 stitch. So quiet a pleasure to sew on. Was in nice shape when I got him at the thrift shop, just needed a small cleaning and oiling. I think he was 25$. Rosie was $19.99 but needed a new belt. Does a nice job on heavier bag handles and such.

Right now I have 2 favorite Singers, the 1952 black 301 that I was given last week and the 1932 15-88 treadle. I am giving thought to selling the VS2 and the 99k, but I am still on the fence about it.

Marvelous Marv is indeed marvelous! Canadian thrift shops must be just wonderful places, I never find things like that in the shops near where I live.....hmmm, maybe that is a good thing. LOL

I am a fanatic about my Japanese Brother machines, I own close to 30 of them. I grew up sewing with a 1964 Brother and never even knew there was anything else until I was in high school.
That being said, I also own a few Singers that I don't think I could part with. The 201-2 was my first and is still my very favorite Singer. There's no way to describe the pleasure sewing with one, it's something you have to experience for yourself. A close second is my 301s. I love these machines. I have more but these are my favorites that I use.

I will keep my eyes open for a 201, they sound wonderful and so many people seem to love them. There was a badged brother machine last week at the second hand store and I certainly would have picked him up but a little pricey. It was similar in colour to Rosie. I have three lovely White machines that I will post from japan. I have a white 455 as well but it was made in Clevland, Ohio and it's a noisy thing. I had it professionally serviced and it still isn't as nice to use as the ones from abroad. The machines I get are all from Ottawa, Canada. Unfortunately I work nights which leaves the days free for rummaging for old machines. I will have to focus the collection, although I do have lots of space there are only so many machines one can use and admire! Plus. friends are starting to talk....(jealous,I'm sure, haha!)

So this is Fleshtone Fanny a White model 2137. I fell for the built in handle. She's a ss/zz with push button reverse. A designated left hand needle (learned this from you folks, thankyou, was trying to figure out how to move needle!) The instruction manual had excellent maintenance info some of which was if your grease on your gears is tacky apply kerosene and run at high speed; then clean and regrease. The good old days when they expected you to care for your equipment and made it last long enough to do so!

Powder Puff, White model#162. SS/ZZ with cams although I only have the one that came with her. I really like using this machine, it's a smooth sewing workhorse.
