JMCDA,
Well, this girl is a bit self-concious about her appearance and is working hard to make herself presentable. :-)

Funny how fast you learn armed with knowledge and machinary in front of you, isn't it? I just ordered the belts and bobbin winder rings today so hopefully by next weekend I will be able to report I have actually used the machines. Wiping the drool off is getting old ;-)

I hope to post her picture this weekend so be watching.

best,
d

Wowza!!!!! It came out beautiful :) . You mentioned polish. Which polish did you use to make her so pretty? Can't wait to see what your other machine is going to be

Sure, they can be portable. Pictured below is one that I bought off of Craigslist and the woman's husband had made a box for it to sit in. This one is a handcrank but you could do the same thing with a red eye that has a motor.

Aren't they just a pretty machine? Although scrolling through this forum this afternoon I've seen several other beautiful machines.

As to cleaning her up, I went with Muv's recommendations all the way -mostly sewing machine oil (Singer), Maas metal polish and then some Mother's car polish as a 'finishing powder' ;-)

best,
deb

Charlee...you clean up good!
Beautiful machine.

Congratulations!

Congratulations, you have a beautiful Red Eye!! She cleaned up so nicely and you are so blessed to find her. I have her sisters, a Pheasant head treadle and a Sphynx without a cabinet. Don't you just LOVE these old Singers? They are magnificent!
Pictures of them on my blog if you want to take a peek at them.

I just took a look and WOW....your machines are in almost perfect condition. I hope you find the perfect cabinet for your "newest" machine...lol!

Wow, Wow double Wow, that is so pretty. It looks new. Mine don't look that good, but I still love Her anyway. You did a great job.

That is a nice Red Eye. Cabinets not to bad either. But ...... please take the flower pots off the wood. I've got 6 treadles and 4 of them have water damage from flower pots. Ewwwww yuka poooy.

Hey Joe,
Think I hit 'Cancel' instead of 'Submit Reply' so if this come through twice, I apologize folks.

Stand down. Charlee's cool. That photo was taken the first night she was all cleaned up and put in 'her spot'. After all, she's got to earn her keep.

I attached a pic I just took so you can see what she has looked like since a couple of days after her debut. She's a busy girl and doesn't like to sit idle. She does has a fabulous stitch.

We good? Good :-)

best,
d
