I have another question, some say they are a vibrating shuttle. How do I know if that is what I have. I have trying to get a manual and want to make sure I get the right one.

Don't be in a hurry to open that up. it hasp ieces that will fall out and getting them all back in place is tricky. but if you are brave look for 2 screws at the top and 2 at eh bottom on the back side of the housing for the needle bar and preser bar.

Davis only made vibrating shuttle underfeeds for Sears. Here is a cleaner pdf copy of the Burdick manual. I can't recall ever seeing a Davis model E / Minnesota A manual. There are a few similar ones. Some of the diagrams in the Burdick manual show the model E with the rectangular needle bar and thick face plate. Evidently they didn't have time for proper diagrams.
